Hands down, the BEST sushi in Calgary! The fish-to-rice ratio is incredible—10/10. The food is always fresh, and the staff are super friendly. Would highly recommend Zipang for an authentic sushi experience!

I'm from California where we have great sushi. This traditional sushi restaurant compares with the great ones there. The place is moderately sized and has a nice sushi bar. The sushi is very fresh, the appetizers are very good and the servers are very attentive. I've been to over 5 here in Calgary and this one is my favorite. Here are some pictures for what I ordered over 2 days of coming here. Can't wait to keep coming to this place and trying other sushi/sashimi combinations!

One of best sushi bar in town. The sashimi was super fresh. Taste clean and no fishy smell. Delicious. The kitchen menu very good. Deep fry calamari and pork chop with mashed potato. Very well seasoned. Good variety of food for people who like to eat non raw food. Very busy here do book ahead of time.

A gem of a restaurant. My Japanese friend took us here and helped us with the menu. Small place with a clean ambience. Service was quick and super friendly staff. Tried a variety of dishes and did not regret any dish. I would like to say that every dish a Must-Try. One of the best Sushi places I have been to in YYC! Our new favorite spot :)

2025-02-14 Had dinner on one of the busiest nights and enjoyed very good food & service. Their fish are traditional, generous sized slices. The sushi rice is appropriately seasoned. All the fish were great quality. A subpar item was the tempura batter. It was clumpy and not frizzled as it should be in appearance but still light and crispy. We enjoyed coming here over the years and will continue to return. Highly recommended sushi place.

My wife and I had a great dinner Zipang. The staff were friendly and food was great. The owner even gave my wife and I a bowl of vanilla ice cream with matcha powder on the house. Really thoughtful gesture. Would definitely recommend Zipang to anyone looking for a good sushi night. Thanks!

It’s been awhile since I’ve been to Zipang and the quality isn’t there as before. I say that because the rolls they added so much rice, felt like I was just eating a lot of rice and not much filling. The udon was good it had a lot of flavor. Nothing special about the steak and fries. The Yukke was good but it would be nice if you get seaweed to eat with it. The kaki oysters were huge, but were overly battered and abit too greasy. There was pockets of oil within the batter. Service was good but felt they were rushing to take orders and running around a lot. The chef even came out to bring food to tables.

This restaurant truly gives you the comforting vibe of dining at home, thanks to its friendly staff and warm service. Be sure to try the sushi when you visit, as they serve the best in Calgary! Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. We got a free dessert and thank you for the lovely compliments ! We can’t wait to come back again soon!
